The 2026 Hilux has a factory GVM of 3065kg to 3120kg on 4x4 models. A Formula 4x4 GVM upgrade raises that to 3571kg, adding 451kg to 506kg of legal payload with a 40mm to 50mm lift, in standard or F4R adjustable form. Toyota also offers a 3500kg factory option on selected grades ordered new.

What Is the GVM of the 2026 Hilux?

Across the range, 2026 Hilux 4x4 GVM sits between 3065kg and 3120kg, with 4x2 models at 2950kg to 2980kg. The 4x4 GCM rose to 6300kg, up from 5850kg on the N80, which helps when towing. GVM and payload barely moved, though, so a loaded N90 runs out of capacity about as quickly as the old one.

Formula 4x4 GVM Upgrades for the 2026 Hilux

We’ve developed two certified 3571kg GVM upgrades for the N90 Hilux GUN226R and GUN227R from 2025 onwards. Both include an upper control arm kit to keep front end geometry right at the lifted height, and both carry a 5 year / unlimited km warranty.

The F4R N90 kit is for owners who want the most control. You get 8 low speed compression, 6 high speed compression and 12 rebound settings on each damper, plus spring preload adjustment up front. It’s the pick for heavy touring, corrugated outback roads and anyone who drives empty during the week.

Toyota’s option is a neat fit for a fleet buyer who wants the factory rating and nothing more. Choose a Formula 4x4 upgrade when you want the extra 71kg of GVM, real lift for clearance and bigger tyres, adjustable damping, or when your Hilux is already registered.

Pre-Rego or Post-Rego: Timing Your N90 Upgrade

Planning a Hilux 2026 GVM upgrade on a ute you haven’t taken delivery of yet? Talk to your dealer about a pre-registration upgrade before it’s registered. The higher GVM becomes part of the vehicle’s compliance from the start, and engineering is included at no extra charge.

If your Hilux is already registered, a post-registration upgrade is certified by an approved engineer, who issues a modification plate and updates the vehicle’s registered details. That step adds $1,265 to the fitted price of either kit.
